Serena Williams Throws Shade at ‘Taylor Swift’s Boyfriend’ in Hilarious 2024 ESPY Awards Monologue!

Serena Williams Brings the Laughs at the 2024 ESPY Awards with Hilarious Jokes About Travis Kelce and More!

Serena Williams lit up the stage as she hosted the 2024 ESPY Awards on July 11, delivering a memorable opening monologue that had the audience in stitches. The tennis superstar couldn’t resist poking fun at Travis Kelce’s high-profile romance with Taylor Swift, joking, “Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs. This year, Patrick Mahomes and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend won a Super Bowl.”

Williams continued the playful banter, teasing about the couple’s extravagant spending: “Travis and Taylor reportedly spent $100,000 a day on their romance. That’s a lot of money. That’s what I’ve been told Jaylen Brown spends on his beard. It’s very shiny. I like it though.”

The laughs kept coming as she commented on LeBron James’ son, Bronny, being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers: “I truly hope that Bronny has a long career, so long that we see his hairline recede and then miraculously un-recede like dad.”

In a nod to her own success, Williams referenced the Oscar-winning film about her life, “King Richard,” humorously noting, “Will Smith played my dad. He was so good in it, he won an Oscar, even after slapping Chris Rock.”

Williams also acknowledged her friends, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, for attending the event, adding a personal touch to her hosting duties

Walking the red carpet with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, and their daughter, Olympia, Williams stole the spotlight before the show. This hosting gig comes nearly two years after she announced her retirement from tennis, a decision she made to focus on her family.

Reflecting on her post-tennis life, Williams shared her journey of adapting to this new chapter, expressing, “It’s fun. It’s different. It’s a life I’ve never experienced.” While she explores new ventures, including a venture-capital fund and a makeup line, she admits to missing tennis more than she anticipated: “It’s a good miss. It’s like nostalgia. I love that.”

Serena Williams continues to shine, both on and off the court, proving that her legacy extends far beyond tennis.
